HALL OF CHAMPION THEMES: November 2011
Our main goal at Champion Theme Inc. is to provide you with the tools needed to find that perfect promotional partner. In addition to that, we also want to teach you the value of cross-promotion.
Hall of Champion Themes is our monthly interview that will highlight successful cross-promotions, or champion themes, from the eyes of the consumer. The focus of our interview this month is to understand why people attend charity events and what they recall after they attend.
We interviewed Megan Wiles from Placentia, California. Ms. Wiles spends her workdays as a 1st grade teacher.
What was the name of the event you attended?
CHOC Walk in the Park
What was the date of the event?
October 16, 2011
What do you think the purpose, or theme, of the event was?
This event raises money for the
Children's Hospital of Orange County
. It allows them to provide quality care to all children, even those lacking the financial resources to pay. It also helps to support and expand the research they do and the services they provide.
Why did you attend this particular event?
This will be my 7th year participating in the CHOC walk. My mom began walking 8 years ago and then invited my husband and I to join her. It has become a family tradition in which we can now include our children. It is a lot of fun walking through Disneyland with the sights, characters and music. We enjoy giving to a hospital that so greatly impacts our community. In addition, you can't help but be inspired by all the families whose children received care at CHOC and who now walk in support and gratitude. We have two children of our own and are tremendously grateful that we have never needed to use CHOC's services.
What's the first sponsor of the event that comes to mind?
Disney!
Why do you think you remembered this particular sponsor?
It is hard to forget Disney, since they provide the venue and staffing for the event.
What other sponsors of the event do you remember?
Kia Motors America
and
Chick-fil-A
Did you receive gifts for attending? If so, can you name them?
We each received a CHOC t-shirt and a book of various grocery-type coupons.
How many of these events on average do you attend each year?
This is the only event of it's kind that we attend.
How do you think the event went?
The event is always amazing. It is impeccably organized. There is lots of participation and they are able to raise a lot of money for a great cause.
Would you attend this event next time? Why or why not?
I plan to attend this event next year and many years to come. It is great fun and I enjoy supporting CHOC.
Ms. Wiles, we want to thank you for taking the time to answer our questions and helping us teach the power of cross-promotion to our members.
